New Programs at Hutton House (LIU/CW Post)

It was a pleasure discussing The Great Dictator, To Be or Not To Be and The Producers at Hutton House last month. (And an extra thank you to those who participated in the Jack Benny/Bob Hope program.)

Our next series of programs is Cinematic Couples:    January 15, 22, 29, from 10-12

I think you will find the subject matter interesting. We will dissect three memorable Hollywood couples who made multiple films together.

Myrna Loy & William Powell
Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers

We will examine their individual careers as well as their on screen, and off screen, relationships.

We will discuss 3 motion pictures that are considered classics in its own genre:
The Thin Man – mystery; The Blue Dahlia – film noir, and Swing Time – musical.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me at this email address.
In the meanwhile, enjoy the rest of this glorious summer! Hope to see you next year.

Hutton House is located on the campus of LIU/CW Post.

Mel Brooks

My favorite Mel Brooks lyrics from The Producers:

It's really no mystery
Whether its politics or history
All you have to know is
Everything is Show Biz!

Ain't it the truth!

Holiday Programs

We are currently preparing Georgian Court University's 12th Annual Holiday Social.
Set within the Georgian Court Mansion you will be whisked back to the 1920's to meet "Mrs. Gould" and her domestic. Together you will be entertaining with music and customs of the period, plus you will meet special guest star "Ruth Etting" who will sing some the songs that made her famous at the Ziegfeld Follies.

Known as "America's sweetheart of song" she introduced songs such as Shine On Harvest Moon, Love Me or Leave Me, Button Up Your Overcoat, and Shaking the Blues Away.

Your holiday visit concludes with a High Tea.
